{"id":119991,"date":"2025-10-13T20:30:11","date_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:30:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/119991\/"},"modified":"2025-10-13T20:30:11","modified_gmt":"2025-10-13T20:30:11","slug":"76-of-american-workers-say-theyd-look-for-a-new-job-if-forced-to-work-fully-in-person","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/119991\/","title":{"rendered":"76% of American workers say they&#8217;d look for a new job if forced to work fully in person"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A growing number of workers are primed to leave their jobs if their companies require them to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/10\/06\/bosses-are-still-mandating-rto-workers-are-going-but-on-their-own-terms.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">return to office<\/a>, a new report found.<\/p>\n<p>According to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/urldefense.com\/v3\/__https:\/u7061146.ct.sendgrid.net\/ls\/click?upn=u001.gqh-2BaxUzlo7XKIuSly0rC5wdKE0ppCBmZk-2BT5Xb3OeroqQBP9byoZzQCHoRSAJpO3gGq9B8ugOt0khIn-2FkmZkGIRjvstgcS4anavVrMdK2g-3Dpe3J_0Ou-2B3-2FaXmY346GSbXWdpo14ou9WpGC3TARBIaGv6VLpJSvSMrakhvBQyZxDN7YzO9reduKsfECuG4jeDz9tIMOy8YM71ktvy8Ri2yhHcptAf-2Bmwg6y4tPwNAaf35fJKaqEdSJ0HFx4GfvMnOnJL48-2BWeeM-2BsbK2bHbfnIfsFP6Cm1V-2BDKX-2B6uyCRWG5pLoM2vL3uuuONzzlLzfewAw3OEUjly54c4bbHsfJbv1pXpjGhS8sYk8FE2mjffrC08ewTI18BywdrlAYdbmieNttraoyw-2F91GO2kdmxH323HVKj8lgpekH-2FuNk17aUojZ2P0OcaC3KPPljeAMIabkYOwpmJUZ-2FpCOOdqHIL9qeRiTfGA-3D__;!!PIZeeW5wscynRQ!o_qN0zDUEYkP_vGNbgBCVMFZchaxinhJpfEG7Mk6YvvML_ProWXIdZo_qjr5L1rR37HRR0prEc3E1Eq04_mZVa2s$\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">FlexJobs&#8217; 2025 State of the Workforce Report<\/a>, 76% of American workers said they would look for a new job if they were no longer allowed to work remotely, based on a survey of 3,000 professionals in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a nearly 20% increase from last year&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flexjobs.com\/blog\/post\/flexjobs-report-two-thirds-of-workers-plan-to-change-jobs\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">report<\/a>, in which 57% of workers said that they would &#8220;absolutely&#8221; look for another job if they couldn&#8217;t continue to work remotely.<\/p>\n<p>And of those looking for jobs, 85%<strong> <\/strong>said remote work is the number one factor motivating them to apply for a job, even above salary and benefits and work-life balance.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s unsurprising that remote work has remained popular among American professionals, according to FlexJobs career expert Toni Frana: It <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2022\/11\/29\/remote-workers-reclaimed-60-million-hours-of-commuting-time.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">offers benefits<\/a> like &#8220;greater work-life balance, more flexibility and even cost savings,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p>Citing the survey, Frana points out that only 2% of surveyed workers prefer working in office full-time, as opposed to fully remote or hybrid.<\/p>\n<p>Companies continue to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/03\/23\/5-years-into-the-remote-work-boom-the-return-to-office-push-is-stronger-than-everheres-why.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">push RTO mandates<\/a> in an effort to &#8220;strengthen collaboration&#8221; among employees and improve visibility, Frana says, but many workers aren&#8217;t having it: 27% of employees say that they know someone who has quit or is planning to quit due to return-to-office requirements.<\/p>\n<p><a id=\"headline0\"\/>Navigating an RTO push<\/p>\n<p>If your company is pursuing a return-to-office plan, Frana suggests opening a constructive conversation with your manager about what RTO would mean for your role:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;What challenges are we trying to address by returning to the office? How will success be measured? Is there any amount of flexibility that would still be offered?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Another option could be putting together a proposal for why you should be allowed to continue working remotely, Frana says.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think the main thing to bring to a conversation like this is your results: any feedback that you have from clients or other co-workers, and any goals that you&#8217;ve met or exceeded,&#8221; she says.<\/p>\n<p>The goal is to demonstrate to your manager that &#8220;you&#8217;ve been productive, efficient and a stellar employee&#8221; despite not working in-person, she says.<\/p>\n<p>If remote work is non-negotiable for you, it may be time to look for a new job &#8220;that better meets your needs,&#8221; Frana says.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of companies offer <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/03\/14\/companies-hiring-for-hundreds-of-remote-jobssome-pay-six-figures.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fully remote work<\/a>, Frana says, but <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/08\/hiring-entry-level-remote-jobs.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">competition can be fierce<\/a> for those roles.
