Martin Clunes has signed up to join a show based on his hit beloved drama, Doc Martin<\/a>. Fox’s Best Medicine is the American remake of the long-running ITV show, which ran for 10 seasons and multiple specials between 2004 and 2022 before ending on Christmas Day 2022<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Handmaid\u2019s Tale<\/a> and The Good Wife star Josh Charles has already been cast as lead character Dr Martin Best. Clunes will be joining in a guest role, playing Martin’s father, accomplished gastroenterologist Dr Robert Best.<\/p>\n

His character description explains that Robert is a headstrong man who makes his stoic son seem warm by comparison. <\/p>\n

The series sees Martin leave behind a successful career in Boston to work as a GP in a small village on the East Coast, where he spent his summers as a child.<\/p>\n

But when his father arrives, everyone is put on edge, including his estranged sister played by Young Sheldon star Annie Potts.<\/p>\n

Also joining the show is Grease icon Didi Conn, Suits star Abigail Spencer and Scream VI’s Josh Segarra. <\/p>\n

It was previously reported that Fox believed Charles’s casting<\/a> was the key to the success of Best Medicine’s pilot episode. The green light came in after the actor closed a deal to star in a full series.<\/p>\n
