Queen icon Brian May was flooded with support after sharing a message remembering a friend who was the “kindest man” he met and died after a sudden heart attack<\/p>\n

Brian May<\/a> has opened up about how hard it was to lose one of his dearest friends, who died of a sudden heart attack two years ago. The Queen<\/a> guitarist took to social media to pay tribute to Phil Webb, who had been his driver and the “kindest man” he ever met.<\/p>\n

Phil died in 2023 after suffering from a heart attack. He had known Brian<\/a> for decades and at the time, the guitarist said the day Phil died was the “saddest day of his life”.<\/p>\n

Now, Brian has opened up about losing his friend. He posted a picture of the two of them to Instagram and wrote in the caption: “In my thoughts today, the unforgettable Phil Webb.<\/p>\n

“Seen here with me, proudly looking after me as he always did, at my knighthood ceremony at Buckingham Palace<\/a>. HE was suddenly taken from this world<\/a> two years ago, way, way too soon.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was the kindest man I ever met, to ever man, woman and child, no matter what their colour or creed, and a passionate champion of animals, all of which makes him, to me, one of the greats. We all miss ya Phil, too much. RIP.\u201d<\/p>\n

Fans flooded the comments with words of support. One agreed that Phil was “such a kind man” and would be “dearly missed”. Another said they were sending “extra love” to all the people who had been close to the driver.<\/p>\n

At the time of Phil’s death, Brian announced it in a statement, where he called the day the “saddest” of his life. The statement read: “This is one of the saddest days of my life. Last night we lost Phil Webb to a heart attack.<\/p>\n

“Phil, my dedicated driver for over 30 years was my family\u2019s dearest friend and protector and the kindest and most decent man I have ever had the pleasure to meet.<\/p>\n

“We are all devastated and join with Phil\u2019s wife and son in grieving for the last man on Earth to deserve this much too early passing away.<\/p>\n

\u201cBless you dear Phil \u2013 we all love you. We\u2019re proud of the life you led, and forever grateful for everything you gave us \u2013 more than any words could ever describe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brian was one of the founding members of Queen. With hits such as We Are The Champions and Another One Bites The Dust, the band are one of the most iconic British bands in history. The other members were Freddie Mercury<\/a>, who died in 1991, John Deacon<\/a> and Roger Taylor<\/a>.<\/p>\n
