Gardai have issued an appeal for witnesses following the shocking incidentSligo University hospital<\/p>\n

Gardai have issued an appeal after a student was allegedly attacked by another student during a school lunchtime break in Co Donegal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The incident happened at approximately 1.30pm in the area of the Market Yard in Ballyshannon on Friday last.<\/p>\n

Gardai<\/a> say the student was approached from behind and assaulted a number of times by another student.<\/p>\n

The victim had to be rushed to Sligo University Hospital<\/a> for treatment.<\/p>\n

However, Gardai say the injuries are not life-threatening.<\/p>\n

A Garda spokesperson confirmed the incident happened at lunch-break and they believed another student was involved.<\/p>\n

They are appealing for anybody who may have footage of the incident to contact them.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for An Garda Siochana commented: “We appeal to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to get in touch with Garda\u00ed in Ballyshannon on 071 9858530.<\/p>\n

“Should anyone have travelled in that area with a dash-cam around that time, we ask them to please make the footage available to us.”<\/p>\n
