If an American ever gets the chance to play James Bond<\/a><\/strong>, Glen Powell<\/a> won\u2019t be the one to portray 007<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What did Glen Powell say about playing James Bond?<\/p>\n

Powell\u2019s stock is on the rise as a leading man in Hollywood. With a new James Bond movie in development, Powell\u2019s name has been mentioned as a potential successor to Daniel Craig<\/a> if Amazon<\/a> pursues an American actor.<\/p>\n

Amazon MGM Studios<\/a> has not expressed any interest in casting an American over a British male, so Powell\u2019s potential involvement is only a rumor. <\/p>\n

If, for some reason, Amazon wanted to cast Powell as the first American 007, would he do it?<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m Texan. A Texan should not play James Bond,\u201d Powell told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> in a recent profile. \u201cMy family and I joke around. I can play Jimmy Bond, but I should not be playing James Bond. Get an authentic Brit for that job. That\u2019s who belongs in that tuxedo.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Powell might not be wearing a tuxedo to play Bond, he will likely have to put on a suit for several red carpets this fall to promote his upcoming projects.<\/p>\n

First up is Chad Powers, an upcoming football comedy created by Powell and Michael Waldron. Based on Eli Manning\u2019s sketch, Powell stars as Russ Holliday, a disgraced college football player who disguises himself as Chad Powers to play quarterback at another school.<\/p>\n

Chad Powers heads to Hulu on September 30, 2025.<\/p>\n

Later this year, Powell headlines Edgar Wright\u2019s feature film adaptation of The Running Man<\/a>. Powell stars as Ben Richards, a contestant on the Running Man game show who must survive 30 days to win a cash prize.<\/p>\n

William H. Macy, Lee Pace, Emilia Jones, Michael Cera, Daniel Ezra, Jayme Lawson, Colman Domingo, and Josh Brolin also star.<\/p>\n

The Running Man opens in theaters on November 14, 2025.<\/p>\n

As for Bond, Denis Villeneuve<\/a> is slated to direct the first 007 under Amazon MGM Studios\u2019 creative control.
