{"id":12374,"date":"2025-08-20T21:16:08","date_gmt":"2025-08-20T21:16:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/12374\/"},"modified":"2025-08-20T21:16:08","modified_gmt":"2025-08-20T21:16:08","slug":"hurricane-erin-remnants-expected-to-bring-wetter-and-breezier-conditions-next-week-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/12374\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane Erin remnants expected to bring wetter and breezier conditions next week \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Remnants of Hurricane Erin are forecast to bring \u201cunsettled weather\u201d to Ireland, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/met-eireann\">Met \u00c9ireann<\/a> has said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Forecaster Aoife Kealy said the hurricane was creating \u201csome uncertainty\u201d for conditions from Tuesday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Hurricane Erin, which is expected to pound the US east coast, is forecast to track slowly eastward across the North Atlantic afterwards, causing some \u201cwet and breezier weather\u201d in Ireland after what is predicted to be largely dry and settled weekend here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWe don\u2019t know exactly where it\u2019s going to track,\u201d Ms Kealy said. The storm\u2019s force is expected to weaken as it crosses the Atlantic. \u201cThere\u2019s no severe weather coming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Along the eastern seaboard of the US, Hurricane Erin is expected to result in very strong winds, which will be dangerous along coasts. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Residents of The Outer Banks, a string of barrier islands off North Carolina, have been bracing for high winds, with several beaches off-limits due to life-threatening rip currents.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Ms Kealy said that by the time Erin reaches Ireland, the ex-hurricane would likely cause \u201cmore in the way of rainfall\u201d and bring slightly windier conditions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">This will see a break in the high pressure that is expected to dominate the country over the coming days. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">It is predicted to remain mostly dry, with a few light showers at the weekend. She said temperatures would be mostly in the high teens to low 20s until Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Thursday is expected to be mainly dry with a mix of sunny spells and a few showers, with highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Mist and foggy patches are set to develop in the west on Thursday night. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">This is expected to clear on Friday morning to make way for another mainly dry day with spells of sunshine. Some isolated showers are possible towards Atlantic coasts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Going into the weekend, a mix of sun and scattered showers is forecast. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Sunday is expected to be cloudier with more showers and rain arriving into the southwest of the country.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Remnants of Hurricane Erin are forecast to bring \u201cunsettled weather\u201d to Ireland, Met \u00c9ireann has said.
