\u201cThere\u2019s no timeline, there\u2019s no series of stages that you go through \u2013 not in the same way that you would, say, with prostate cancer,\u201d he said about his diagnosis.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s much more mysterious and enigmatic.\u201d<\/p>\n
Fox, who is promoting his new memoir, Future Boy, went on to detail his desire for a peaceful death.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are not many people who have had Parkinson\u2019s for 35 years,\u201d he said in an interview. \u201cI\u2019d like to just not wake up one day. That\u2019d be really cool. I don\u2019t want it to be dramatic. I don\u2019t want to trip over furniture, smash my head.\u201d<\/p>\n
With Parkinson\u2019s, the brain becomes progressively damaged over years. Physical symptoms include involuntary shaking of the limbs, slowed movement and other mobility issues.<\/p>\n
Fox said he now takes it easy, noting that he \u201cdoesn\u2019t walk much any more\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cI can walk, but it\u2019s not pretty and it\u2019s a bit dangerous, so I just roll that into my life, you know \u2013 no pun intended,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He also spoke about his daily challenges while living with Parkinson\u2019s.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wake up and get the message of what the day is gonna be like, and I try to adjust to it,\u201d he said. \u201cI keep getting new challenges physically, and I get through it.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Fox announced his retirement in 2020, he has since appeared in the Apple TV+ comedy drama Shrinking, starring Harrison Ford as Dr Paul Rhoades, who is living with Parkinson\u2019s.<\/p>\n

In addition to his TV return, Fox has also maintained an active public presence, including appearances at Glastonbury and various awards shows.<\/p>\n
He last spoke about his experience with Parkinson\u2019s last November at the annual gathering of his Parkinson\u2019s research foundation, the Michael J Fox Foundation.<\/p>\n
He recently said his outlook on the disease had changed over the years, noting that he does not view his condition negatively.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter 35 years or something since I\u2019ve been diagnosed, this is just my life and I don\u2019t think about it much,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
