\u201cHollywood will try to look at this and be like, ‘Oh, man, anime films, let’s go, right?’ But I think the true formula to an anime film\u2019s success is you really need those build up seasons,\u201d voice actor Kaiji Tang said<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
After the success of Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle<\/a> at the U.S. box office in October, voice actors are predicting where Hollywood might take things next for other beloved anime series.<\/p>\n Speaking with Polygon<\/a> at New York Comic Con, in an interview published on Sunday, Oct. 12, the English dub voice cast of JuJutsu Kaisen<\/a> opened up about the potential impact of Demon Slayer’s success on the big screen.<\/p>\n Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba \u2013 The Movie: Infinity Castle, which made its stateside theatrical debut from Sony\u2019s Crunchyroll on Sept. 12, recently became the highest-grossing international film ever in the U.S. It totaled<\/a>\u00a0$128.5 million domestically and\u00a0earned<\/a>\u00a0$128.6 million and counting, per estimates from Box Office Mojo.<\/p>\n \u201cHollywood will try to look at this and be like, ‘Oh, man, anime films, let’s go, right?’ But I think the true formula to an anime film\u2019s success is you really need those build up seasons,\u201d said Kaiji Tang, who voices Gojo in JuJutsu Kaisen.<\/p>\n \u201cYou need to have followed the story for two, three, four years. To see the culmination of that story, or at least a very big part of it, on the big screen is kind of a reward for being there for all those seasons,” he added. “That’s when you get the huge Demon Slayer numbers. I wish them well. That’s pure bitterness,” he said, as Tang floated the idea of Chris Pratt<\/a> voicing Gojo.<\/p>\n The latest Demon Slayer film also became the highest-grossing anime film in North America, surpassing classics such asYour Name, Spirited Away\u00a0and\u00a0Suzume.
