At Eilish\u2019s October 9 concert in Miami, a man grabbed at Eilish from the barricade, pulling her into the crowd. While security physically handled the situation, the internet latched on to a young woman wearing a red headscarf who followed to verbally reprimand him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmgts8xfn006z3b7892vou3y0@published\" data-word-count=\"105\">Eilish\u2019s supporters have reason to be protective. Like many A-list artists in the age of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/article\/chappell-roan-call-her-daddy.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chappell Roan<\/a>, she\u2019s tried to assert boundaries as a public figure over the course of her career \u2014 sharing her desire for the internet to discuss her body and relationships less, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.businessinsider.com\/billie-eilish-paparazzi-stalking-bbc-radio-interview-2020-2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">criticizing<\/a> \u201cinvasive\u201d paparazzi, and even being <a href=\"https:\/\/www.latimes.com\/entertainment-arts\/story\/2023-11-16\/billie-eilish-restraining-order-stalker-threats-home\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">granted<\/a> a five-year restraining order against a stalker. Overnight, \u201cRed Bandanna Girl\u201d has become, yes, a meme but also a symbol for fans\u2019 outspoken defense of their idols. \u201cI know that you have my back,\u201d Eilish <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@axelsthirdeye\/video\/7560337102341164310?q=red%20bandana%20girl&amp;t=1760628464812\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told<\/a> the crowd during a recent show. \u201cAnd you just prove it to me over and over.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmgtj4pfp004b3b78v6yohzwm@published\" data-word-count=\"146\">A man grabbed at Eilish as she passed by fans during the October 9 show, knocking her into the barricade just as her fingers touched \u201cRed Bandanna Girl,\u201d <a href=\"#aniyah\">18-year-old Aniyah Saint-<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vulture.com\/_pages\/cmgtif6te00150iaymvll7r0i.html?edit=true#aniyah\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Surin.<\/a> Security pushed him away, and as he stumbled back, Saint-Surin followed and \u2014\u00a0in a moment that has been immortalized in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@sagescenes\/video\/7559864529652387089\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">fan edit<\/a> with more than 31 million views on TikTok to date \u2014 started cursing him out. \u201cAll I thought was, \u2018You just put your hands on this little lady? Now it\u2019s me and you,\u2019\u201d she recalled to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/culture\/culture-news\/billie-eilish-red-bandana-girl-viral-fan-1235447895\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rolling Stone<\/a>. Security later asked Saint-Surin to answer questions about the incident. She told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cosmopolitan.com\/entertainment\/celebs\/a69043761\/red-bandana-girl-billie-eilish\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Cosmopolitan<\/a> that she was upset to see the offender again: \u201cIn the corner of my eye, 10 feet away from me, as I\u2019m talking to the police, he\u2019s sitting right in the chair. I go,\u00a0That\u2019s him right there?\u00a0The police were like\u00a0Whoa, ma\u2019am.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmgtl6wgl00gt3b78z07ghl5b@published\" data-word-count=\"123\">The 18-year-old high-school senior Aniyah Saint-Surin is a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/packwithpassion\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">nonprofit co-founder<\/a> who hopes to major in event and entertainment management in college \u2014 and of course, she\u2019s also one of Eilish\u2019s \u201creal stans,\u201d which she defined to Rolling Stone as fans who respect \u201cboundaries\u201d and aren\u2019t \u201cGoogling into [an artist\u2019s] business and trying to find out what\u2019s going on in their personal life.\u201d Her first time seeing Eilish (whom she\u2019s been stanning for six years) perform was during that October 9 show in Miami, she told Cosmopolitan. Saint-Surin attended the concert alone and secured a front-row spot. As for the red bandanna that she accessorized her outfit with? \u201cI\u2019m not gang affiliated. It was just to tie my wig down, I swear!\u201d she says.<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmgtj8oil007r3b78i76wedaq@published\" data-word-count=\"66\">Even her brother saw the viral moment. \u201cRed bandana girl from last night\u2019s show rules,\u201d Finneas wrote<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/yanellyeilish\/status\/1976694826885431606\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> in an Instagram Story<\/a> after the concert. Eilish\u2019s manager reached out to send her some merch, Saint-Surin confirmed to Cosmopolitan. The way that you guys protect me and care about me is so, so special, and I feel exactly the same way about you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"clay-paragraph\" data-editable=\"text\" data-uri=\"www.vulture.com\/_components\/clay-paragraph\/instances\/cmgtklgu600fi3b7803n1se8m@published\" data-word-count=\"78\">Although Saint-Surin said she was initially worried about being perceived as an \u201cangry Black woman,\u201d Eilish fans rewarded her for her reaction. In less than a week, Saint-Surin has gained more than 660,000 followers on TikTok, many of whom thanked her in the comments for confronting the offender. In the immediate aftermath, she had fans <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/triedtoscr3am\/status\/1976960971219591534\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">bowing<\/a> to her in person.
