I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With His Majesty\u2019s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me,&#8221; he concluded.<\/p>\n<p>Andrew will also surrender his membership of the Order of the Garter. and would need to &#8220;rise above it&#8221;, suggesting ongoing contact between the pair. <\/p>\n<p>The email cast fresh doubt over the duke\u2019s previous public statements regarding the timeline of his association with Epstein. <\/p>\n<p>The exchange occurred the day following publication of a photograph showing the duke with his arm around Ms Giuffre at Ghislaine Maxwell&#8217;s London residence.<\/p>\n<p>The photograph in question is of Prince Andrew alongside Virginia Giuffre when she was 17 years old, taken at the Belgravia home of socialite Ghislaine Maxwell. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" id=\"90563\" data-rm-shortcode-id=\"a9a3e43bec3a487e62984be6275ff723\" data-rm-shortcode-name=\"rebelmouse-image\" class=\"rm-shortcode rm-lazyloadable-image \" lazy-loadable=\"true\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns='http:\/\/www.w3.org\/2000\/svg'%20viewBox='0%200%201245%20700'%3E%3C\/svg%3E\" data-runner-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/prince-andrew-sarah-ferguson.jpg\" width=\"1245\" height=\"700\" alt=\"Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Andrew has been facing intense public scrutiny over his former relationship with Jeffrey Epstein <\/p>\n<p> | <\/p>\n<p>GETTY<\/p>\n<p>During his 2019 Newsnight interview with the BBC, the Duke rejected Ms Giuffre&#8217;s account, stating the London meeting &#8220;never happened&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>He suggested the image might have been falsified, telling the broadcaster: &#8220;Nobody can prove whether or not that photograph has been doctored but I don&#8217;t recollect that photograph ever being taken.&#8221;
