Prince Andrew<\/a> has agreed to give up his Royal titles, as well as many honours. This comes following a highly-publicised exchange with Prince William<\/a> last month in their last public interaction together.<\/p>\n

Andrew, whose title was previously ‘the Duke of York’, relinquished his official titles on Friday under what The Mirror<\/a> describes as “pressure” from King Charles and Prince William. The controversy stems from the ongoing Jeffrey Epstein<\/a> scandal.<\/p>\n

The funeral of the Duchess of Kent was the location of one of Prince Andrew’s final public appearances. The 65-year-old attended the ceremony at Westminster Abbey<\/a> with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson<\/a>.<\/p>\n

UK media reported at the time on what appeared to be a public snub of Andrew by nephew Prince William as the future king seemed to be “furious” after the interaction.<\/p>\n

Esteemed lip reader Jeremy Freeman closely examined video footage of the exchange and believes he worked out what was said while Andrew, who could be seen laughing and smiling before attempting to chat to William numerous times, to little reaction from his nephew.<\/p>\n

Mr Freeman has surmised that Andrew said to William that “we had a lovely time in those days, didn’t we… I remember those days.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Royal author Andrew Lownie told the Mirror that William was “furious” after being caught off-guard during the ceremony. He said: “He has been at pains to distance himself from his uncle and not be photographed with him.<\/p>\n

“He believes his father has not dealt with him with sufficient firmness and that Andrew – and Sarah Ferguson – have done much to undermine the good work of other members of the Royal Family.”<\/p>\n

The Order of the Garter is the senior and oldest British Order of Chivalry, founded by Edward III in 1348<\/p>\n

Andrew also confirmed he intends to give up his Order of the Garter title.<\/p>\n

He was previously accused by Virginia Giuffre<\/a>, one of Epstein’s most high-profile victims, of sexual abuse. He has consistently denied these allegations.<\/p>\n

Following his title revocation last night, he stated: “In discussion with the King, and my immediate and wider family, we have concluded the continued accusations about me distract from the work of His Majesty and the Royal Family.<\/p>\n

“I have decided, as I always have, to put my duty to my family and country first. I stand by my decision five years ago to stand back from public life.<\/p>\n

“With His Majesty’s agreement, we feel I must now go a step further. I will therefore no longer use my title or the honours which have been conferred upon me. As I have said previously, I vigorously deny the accusations against me.”<\/p>\n
