\n\tJennifer Aniston<\/a> was \u201cimmediately intrigued\u201d when she was approached to star in the forthcoming adaptation of Jennette McCurdy\u2019s memoir<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Morning Show<\/a> star gushed about her upcoming leading role in the Apple TV+ series I\u2019m Glad My Mom Died<\/a>, which is inspired by McCurdy\u2019s book about her relationship with her abusive mother, in a Friday interview with People<\/a>. Going into filming for the project, Aniston admitted that she and the former iCarly actress have a shared experience.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe have a lot in common,\u201d Aniston told the outlet of her and McCurdy. \u201cWe had very similar moms.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhen it came across my desk as an option, an offer to play this character and work with Jennette and Sharon Horgan and LuckyChap, I was pretty much immediately intrigued and flattered and excited,\u201d Aniston added. \u201cIt\u2019s going to be wonderful. It\u2019s going to be pretty great to start shooting it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPer the series logline, I\u2019m Glad My Mom Died will chronicle \u201cthe codependent relationship between an 18-year-old actress in a hit kids\u2019 show, and her narcissistic mom who relishes in her identity as a starlet\u2019s mother.\u201d Aniston will star as the mother.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Emmy winner has opened up about her difficult relationship with her mother, Nancy Dow, in the past. During a 2015 interview with The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, Aniston said her mom was \u201cvery critical of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cShe was critical. She was very critical of me. Because she was a model, she was gorgeous, stunning. I wasn\u2019t. I never was. I honestly still don\u2019t think of myself in that sort of light, which is fine,\u201d she said. \u201cShe was also very unforgiving. She would hold grudges that I just found so petty.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tOf McCurdy\u2019s memoir, Aniston praised it as being \u201cso beautifully written.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe fact that she\u2019s the young woman that she is, having lived that life, is nothing short of remarkable,\u201d she added of McCurdy, who will serve as a co-showrunner of the Apple TV+ series alongside Ari Katcher.
