Pictured: Jenny Pearson.<\/p>\nAward-winning children\u2019s authors are in Guernsey next week to inspire and educate thousands of local students through free events and creative workshops.<\/p>\n
Peter Bently, Jenny Pearson and Ele Fountain will lead the tours of schools and activities thanks to financial support from Collas Crill.<\/p>\n
Each will also host a free event at the Guille All\u00e8s Library as part of its annual Book Week.<\/p>\n
Mr Bently will visit younger students to show off his numerous humours picture books which have won several national awards.<\/p>\n
Ms Pearson will take on primary schools to chat about her debut novel \u2018The Super Miraculous Journey of Freddie Yates\u2019.<\/p>\n
Secondary schoolers will hear from Ms Fountain who wrote Boy 87, a story about a young refugee fleeing a dictatorship.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ellie Fowkes, the Library\u2019s Schools Lead, said: \u201cBook Week is always great fun, and it\u2019s a wonderful opportunity for children to meet famous writers.<\/p>\n
\u201cAuthor visits make a lasting impact on children \u2013 they help inspire a love of reading and writing, and above all encourage children to read for pleasure, which is so important for both their education and their wellbeing. We can\u2019t wait to introduce the Island\u2019s schoolchildren to these fantastic authors next week.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gareth Bell, Collas Crill\u2019s Guernsey Managing Partner, added: \u201cWe\u2019re delighted to be sponsoring Book Week this year, one of the many events our fantastic Library puts on each year to capture the hearts and minds of local children.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis initiative is all about inspiring the next generation, which is something we\u2019re very passionate about as a firm. Reading from a young age not only helps develop invaluable life skills \u2013 literacy, communication skills, empathy, creativity, wellbeing \u2013 but also helps establish a love of books that can last a lifetime.<\/p>\n
Collas Crill staff have also aided in judging competitions, such as designing a surfboard, visualing a world record attempt, or creating a pet hero, with the winners to be announced by the authors at their various talks.<\/p>\n
Two creative writing workshops and an animal story time will be held at the Library throughout the week. <\/p>\n
