{"id":135251,"date":"2025-10-21T03:53:23","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T03:53:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135251\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T03:53:23","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T03:53:23","slug":"grandmother-who-died-in-county-limerick-collision-named-locally","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135251\/","title":{"rendered":"Grandmother who died in County Limerick collision named locally"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A WOMAN in her 70s who died in a two-vehicle <a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/section\/229\/breaking-news\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">collision<\/a> in Templeglantine, in County Limerick, has been named locally as Hilda Jackson.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The collision happened in Templeglantine West just before noon, at 11.50am, on Saturday last (October 18), near a junction on the main N21 road to Abbeyfeale.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s understood she was crossing the N21 at the junction by the Devon Road Cross, which has been flagged by local councillors a number of times at council meetings, as being in need of traffic calming measures.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Following the collision, Mrs Jackson was taken to University Hospital Limerick, where she was pronounced dead.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ ALSO:<\/strong>\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/education\/1919417\/south-county-limerick-pupils-thrive-during-forest-school-sessions.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">South County Limerick pupils thrive during forest school sessions<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A passenger in the other car, another woman also in her 70s was taken to University Hospital Kerry, with injuries, which were not believed to be life-threatening.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Described as being a really active member of the community in Tournafulla, where she lived for more than 25 years, Mrs Jackson will be dearly missed by all who knew her.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She moved to Tournafulla 26 years ago from Shannon, with her husband Michael, who passed away in August, 2014.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A friend of Mrs Jackson told Limerick Live: \u201cShe was very much part of the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She volunteered at the Tournafulla community shop and was always a friendly face in the village.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Mrs Jackson is survived by her daughter Linda, son Declan and grandchildren, as well as a wide circle of extended family, friends and neighbours.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed continue to appeal to anyone who was travelling in the area between 11am and noon on Saturday, or who might have dash-cam footage, to contact them.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Anyone with any information can contact Bruff garda station on 061 382940, the garda confidential line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>May she rest in peace.<\/p>\n<p>ADVERTISEMENT &#8211;
