{"id":135463,"date":"2025-10-21T06:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T06:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135463\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T06:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T06:33:10","slug":"coomera-connector-opening-delayed-after-shock-find","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135463\/","title":{"rendered":"Coomera Connector opening delayed after shock find"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The long-awaited opening of the first stage of the Coomera Connector is set to be delayed after cracks were found on one of the bridges along the new motorway.<\/p>\n<p>The road was just weeks away from welcoming the first cars, but it\u2019s now unclear when that might happen.<\/p>\n<p>Transport Minister Brent Mickelberg confirmed the discovery and said work was underway to address the issue.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs part of that final acceptance process, we need to make sure that it\u2019s safe, but it\u2019s also built to the appropriate spec and it\u2019s going to have an appropriate life,\u201d Mr Mickelberg told reporters on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re working through that process now, our engineers, our technical experts are assessing what caused it, but also how we\u2019re going to deal with it into the future as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Minister didn\u2019t say how long they had known about the defects, but played down the seriousness of it, saying cracking on new bridges was \u201cnormal\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mr Mickelberg was also unable to give a timeframe on when the road might be open to traffic.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tWant more?
