{"id":135896,"date":"2025-10-21T11:07:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T11:07:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135896\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T11:07:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T11:07:08","slug":"man-charged-in-relation-to-alleged-sexual-assault-of-young-girl-in-saggart-dublin-the-irish-times","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135896\/","title":{"rendered":"Man charged in relation to alleged sexual assault of young girl in Saggart, Dublin \u2013 The Irish Times"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">A man has appeared before court charged with the alleged sexual assault of a young girl in Saggart, Dublin, in the early hours of Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The accused, who cannot be named at this time because of rules that apply to all sexual assault cases, appeared at Blanchardstown District Court before Judge John Brennan.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Sgt Sinead Connolly told the court the accused man was arrested at 3:58am on Tuesday at Clondalkin Garda station for the purposes of charging him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">When he was arrested, by Sgt Neill O\u2019Brien, and cautioned, and the charge was put to him, the 26-year-old man replied: \u201cI have nothing to say\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The accused appeared before the court on Tuesday, for a very brief hearing, to face one charge of sexual assault on Garter Lane, Saggart, on Monday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The alleged offence is contrary to Section 2 of the Criminal Law (Rape) (Amendment) Act 1990, as amended by Section 37 of the Sex Offenders Act 2001.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall b-it-article-body__text--left\">The accused was granted legal aid and assigned an Arabic interpreter. There was no application for bail.
