{"id":135958,"date":"2025-10-21T11:43:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T11:43:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135958\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T11:43:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T11:43:12","slug":"murder-accused-texted-girlfriend-theyre-trying-to-put-me-in-the-mix-after-skeletal-remains-found","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/135958\/","title":{"rendered":"Murder accused texted girlfriend &#8216;they\u2019re trying to put me in the mix&#8217; after skeletal remains found"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the men on <strong>trial<\/strong> for the <strong>murder<\/strong> of a man whose skeletal remains were found in a gravel bag in <strong>Co Cork<\/strong> texted his girlfriend weeks after the discovery was made, denying any involvement whilst stating: \u201cThey\u2019re trying to put me in the mix.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Garda\u00ed found the remains of Kieran Quilligan (47) in a jute bag in a ravine at Whitewell, Rostellan, Co Cork on January 29th, 2024. He had been missing for five months.<\/p>\n<p>Niall Long (33) and Luke Taylor (27) are on trial at a sitting of the Central Criminal Court in Cork, charged with his murder.<\/p>\n<p>Prosecution senior counsel, Donal O\u2019Sullivan, in his outline to the jury alleged that Kieran Quilligan and another man assaulted Niall Long on September 1st, 2023.<\/p>\n<p>It is the case of the State that this was \u201can instigating factor\u201d for what occurred afterwards.<\/p>\n<p>The trial has now heard evidence from Det Garda Anne O\u2019Sullivan. Det Garda O\u2019Sullivan said that in March of 2024 one of the accused, Lu\u0137e Taylor, sent a text to his girlfriend saying that this man (Quilligan) \u201cwas killed in an unknown place unknown time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He further stated: \u201cI\u2019m not the person that was robbed. I had nothing to do with that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the text exchange Luke Taylor insisted that his only involvement was that he bought drugs off Niall Long.\u201cNiall is a drug dealer, I buy drugs off Niall. What goes on between the two of them. \u2026I had nothing to do with any of that.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The jury also heard evidence from Rhona Campbell of the Garda Siochana Analysis Service. The Prosecution case has now closed.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kieran Quilligan was living with his partner in Simon Community housing in Cork city when he was last seen on September 1st, 2023.
