{"id":136951,"date":"2025-10-21T22:23:09","date_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:23:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/136951\/"},"modified":"2025-10-21T22:23:09","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T22:23:09","slug":"lyte-fiber-named-as-preliminary-recipient-of-bead-funds-in-texas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/136951\/","title":{"rendered":"Lyte Fiber named as preliminary recipient of BEAD funds in Texas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tNews<br \/>\nLyte Fiber has been preliminarily selected for $142 million in Texas BEAD funding to expand high-speed internet access across seven counties.<\/p>\n<p>By: Brad Randall,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bbcmag.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Broadband Communities<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lyte Fiber is planning to build out Broadband Equity, Access, and Deployment (BEAD) projects across seven Texas counties, the provider announced today.<\/p>\n<p>The Houston-based internet service provider (ISP) said Tuesday they\u2019ve been preliminarily selected for the program\u2019s third largest award in Texas.<\/p>\n<p>Money for the award involves BEAD funds and $23 million from the Texas Match Assistance Program (TMAP), Lyte Fiber announced.<\/p>\n<p>The funding will help extend access to well over 9,000 locations, according to Lyte Fiber.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the ISP will invest an additional $40 million to extend the reach of BEAD projects, Lyte Fiber said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, projects covered under the grant will include work in Bee, Cass, Harris, and Kleberg counties.<\/p>\n<p>Marion, Navarro, and San Patricio counties will also be involved in the scope of work, the ISP reported.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bbcmag.com\/www.terrapinn.com\/BBC26\/Blog\/Home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-27765\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/BBC-2026-Banner-1-1-1024x120.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"120\"  \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2018The infrastructure Texans need\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Lyte Fiber\u2019s release explained that 96% of locations will be connected with fiber.<\/p>\n<p>The network, once completed, will offer speeds of 10 Gbps, according to Lyte Fiber.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy combining federal, state, and private resources, we\u2019re delivering the infrastructure Texans need to thrive in today\u2019s economy,\u201d said Marc Eichenbaum, Lyte Fiber\u2019s VP of community development and government affairs. \u201cEvery connection we build strengthens a community \u2013 helping families, students, and small businesses unlock new opportunities.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Carter Old, the company\u2019s CEO, said Lyte Fiber is similarly leading out projects in 15 Texas markets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese grant award areas are a natural extension of the work we\u2019re already doing \u2013 and we can\u2019t wait to get started,\u201d Old said.<\/p>\n<p>Along with 9,700 homes and businesses, Lyte Fiber said the projects would also connect schools and health clinics.
