Reason is his recent comments that Musk’s space company SpaceX is falling behind the US plans to return to the Moon. In a talkshow, Duffy said that SpaceX was \u201cbehind\u201d schedule on building its lunar landing system for the space agency\u2019s Artemis III mission and that he would consider other contracts with competitors such as Amazon founder Jeff Bezos\u2019 Blue Origin.Duffy’s comments don’t seem to have gone well with Elon Musk, who publicly slammed him in a series of posts on X, formerly Twitter. Criticising Sean Duffy, Musk wrote, “The person responsible for America\u2019s space program can\u2019t have a 2 digit IQ.” In response to other user posts, Elon Musk even went on to refer to Sean Duffy as “Sean Dummy\u201d and said that he is \u201ctrying to kill NASA!\u201d. Musk has also posted a poll asking users \u201cShould someone whose biggest claim to fame is climbing trees be running America\u2019s space program?\u201d It seems that Musk is referring to Duffy\u2019s background as a competitive speed climber.<\/p>\n

In an interview on “Fox & Friends”, Duffy said that Elon Musk’s SpaceX is “behind schedule” on the Artemis III project, the mission that plans to land NASA astronauts back on the moon. However, Duffy also praised SpaceX, calling it an “amazing company” that does “remarkable things”. He went on to add, “I’m in the process of opening that contract up. I think we’ll see companies like Blue get involved, and maybe others.” Referencing Jeff Bezos’ rocket company Blue Origin, he said, “We’re going to have a space race in regard to American companies competing to see who can actually get us back to the moon first.”He added that President Donald Trump is focused on beating China back to the moon, and thinks the competition will help ensure NASA meets that goal. “A little COMPETITION doesn\u2019t hurt and it spurs INNOVATION! \ud83d\udca1American companies are going to be able to compete to see which one can get us back to the Moon first. We going to beat China there and we are going to do it under @POTUS! \ud83d\ude80,” Duffy wrote in a post on X. <\/p>\n
