A number of major supermarkets across Ireland have issued an urgent recall of several popular baking products over fears they may contain plastic pieces.<\/p>\n
An alert was issued on Monday by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland<\/a> for five specific batches of Desiccated Coconut products sold in popular supermarkets including Dunnes Stores<\/a>, Aldi<\/a>, Tesco <\/a>and SuperValu<\/a>.<\/p>\n All these products have been imported from Indonesia and have since been removed from sale.<\/p>\n Supermarkets are displaying recall notices in-store, while wholesalers and distributors have been instructed to pull all affected batches from circulation immediately.<\/p>\n Catering businesses have also been warned against using these products, and wholesalers are advised to reach out to any impacted customers.<\/p>\n Consumers who have purchased these products are advised not to use them due to the potential presence of plastic, which could pose serious health risks. Customers can return them to their local store for a refund.<\/p>\n All the recalled products have an expiry date set for 2026. They include:<\/p>\n OC14 001 to OC 14 1040; BB APRIL 2026<\/p>\n 210 BB JUN 26 L4, 238 BB AUG 26 L4, 266 BB AUG 26 L4267, BB AUG 26 L4<\/p>\n Gem Desiccated Coconut<\/p>\n 1 kg<\/p>\n 202 BB JUN 26 N01, 223 BB JUL 26 N01253, BB AUG 26 N02<\/p>\n BB JUN 26 L4, BB JUL 26 L4<\/p>\n 211 BB JUN 26 L4, 212 BB JUN 26 L4, 239 BB JUL 26 L4, 240 BB JUL 26 L4<\/p>\n 199 BB JUN 26 N01, 220 BB JUL 26 N01,223 BB JUL 26 N01, 252 BB AUG 26 N02<\/p>\n An FSAI spokesperson said in a statement: “The implicated batches of Desiccated Coconut are being recalled due to the possible presence of pieces of plastic. Recall notices will be displayed at point-of-sale.<\/p>\n “Retailers are requested to remove the implicated batches from sale and display recall notices at point-of-sale.<\/p>\n “Wholesalers \/ distributors are requested to contact their affected customers and recall \/ withdraw the implicated batches and provide a point-of-sale notice to their retailer customers.<\/p>\n “Caterers should not use the implicated batches. Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batches.”<\/p>\n
