Garda\u00ed at Baltinglass station are investigating an incident of deception involving the withdrawal of \u20ac9,000 from a private account, which occurred in Kiltegan on August 19 and featured in an episode of RTE\u2019s Crimecall on Monday night.<\/p>\n
The suspect is described as having brown hair, is of slim build, and is approximately 5ft 7inches in height. They are believed to be in their late 20s or early 30s. Garda\u00ed have also provided an Evo-Fit composite images of a suspect’s face based on a description from the victim of the deception.<\/p>\n
On Tuesday, August 19, the victim was contacted by Whatsapp message, closely followed by a Whatsapp call, from a man claiming to be from her bank. The victim was advised that her account had been used abroad and that she should transfer her funds to an external account for safety.<\/p>\n
Unable to do this, the man suggested she go to the bank and withdraw the money from her account. The victim did this.<\/p>\n
She was then asked to bring it to the male in Dublin. Refusing to do this, the man then suggested he send somebody to her house to pick up the cash and her card reader.<\/p>\n
A male then called to the house and took these from her. He was then able to access her online Credit Union account and withdrew \u20ac9,000, dividing it into three external accounts.<\/p>\n
