Marvel\u2019s Ultimate Universe is just about to wrap up with 2026\u2019s Ultimate Endgame<\/a>, but the architect behind DC\u2019s own alternate reality imprint Absolute DC wants everyone to know that there are no plans for that line to end anytime soon \u2014 and, in fact, the original creators behind Absolute Batman are signed on for the title for years to come already.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re just building out and there are absolutely no plans of ending it. I just want to make this very clear because we keep getting asked about it in light of the Ultimate Universe ending,\u201d Snyder wrote in the most recent version of his Best Jacket Press newsletter<\/a>. \u201cAnd to reiterate, I applaud the Ultimate Universe. I love reading the Ultimate Universe books. I think what Jonathan and everybody over there has built with it is fantastic. I\u2019m glad they get to end it their way. At the same time, I\u2019m really sad to see it ending. I wish it wasn\u2019t. But again, whatever the plan was there is very different from the plan here.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, what is the plan for the Absolute universe? Snyder offered a surprising tease.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are contracted, me and Nick [Dragotta, artist], through more than 35 issues at this point, which would take us another 2+ years down the line,\u201d he revealed. \u201cSo please don\u2019t worry that there\u2019s any end in sight. There\u2019s not. We\u2019re just expanding and building and trying to keep it streamlined so you can read all the books as well. It\u2019s not going to explode into like, 20 books either.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, now we know that the Absolute titles are running at least through the end of 2027 \u2014 assuming Absolute Batman runs monthly for all that time, of course.<\/p>\n

Absolute Batman, and all of DC\u2019s current Absolute books, are available now.
