{"id":138229,"date":"2025-10-22T12:11:08","date_gmt":"2025-10-22T12:11:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/138229\/"},"modified":"2025-10-22T12:11:08","modified_gmt":"2025-10-22T12:11:08","slug":"fans-shave-heads-to-see-emma-stone-starring-bugonia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/138229\/","title":{"rendered":"Fans shave heads to see Emma Stone-starring Bugonia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Fans arrived for an early screening of the absurdist sci-fi comedy film Bugonia on Monday night in Los Angeles with one unique condition &#8211; the cinema only admitted bald people.<\/p>\n<p>The film&#8217;s distributor, Focus Features, challenged audiences to shave their heads to see Bugonia, starring double-Oscar-winner Emma Stone.<\/p>\n<p>Stone and Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos gained a powerful fanbase after teaming up for the Oscar-winning films <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/entertainment\/movie-reviews\/2024\/0112\/1426129-movie-review-poor-things\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Poor Things<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rte.ie\/entertainment\/movie-reviews\/2018\/1231\/1019671-the-favourite-a-wonderfully-wicked-game-of-thrones\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">The Favourite<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Oscar-nominated Irish cinematographer Robbie Ryan (Poor Things, The Favourite) has also reunited with Lanthimos and Stone for the film, which opens in Ireland on 31 October.<\/p>\n<p>In Bugonia, Stone plays a powerful pharmaceutical CEO named Michelle Fuller, who is kidnapped by two conspiracy theorist cousins who are convinced that she&#8217;s an alien &#8211; so much so, they shave her head.<\/p>\n<p><b>Watch: The trailer for Bugonia<\/b><\/p>\n<p alt=\"Check out Emma Stone's new look in Bugonia\" data-embed=\"comcast-player\" data-guid=\"epic-mpx-manual-27299\" data-id=\"M_ahXrlJXsNg\">\n<p>With a barber in the foyer, fans like Sam Sherman from Los Angeles stepped up to get their buzz cut to gain entry to the screening.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was already thinking of shaving my head,&#8221; Sherman said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I saw, like, a post about this and I was like, &#8216;That&#8217;s a perfect excuse, because I want to see Bugonia anyway &#8211; and I get to see it two weeks early or whatever it is, and then I get a free haircut and a free movie&#8217;. I can feel some connection to the story,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>For Richard Chong, 36, it was a chance to appease his friends and family.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I like the director. I think he&#8217;s really good, very weird, and my friends hate my bowl cut, so this is for them.
