Photo: Andrew Milligan\/PA<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom0 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">A total of 12 crew members have been rescued from a fishing vessel off the south west coast of Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The Irish Coast Guard at Valentia Marine Rescue Coordination Centre received a \u2018Mayday\u2019 alert before 6am this morning from \u2018Radoche Tercero\u2019, the vessel which was at sea.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">Along with the Irish Coast Guard in Valentia, the Shannon-based Coast Guard helicopter, the Coast Guard Fixed wing 120F, and both the Castletownbere and Baltimore lifeboats, were called to duty.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The crew of 12 persons had evacuated to a life raft, and were picked up safely by the fishing vessel \u2018Punteareas Uno.\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">They are currently being escorted by the Castletownbere lifeboat and have not required any medical attention.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The Irish Coast Guard at Valentia Marine Rescue Coordination Centre are currently in the final phase of the rescue operation, 53 nautical miles south west of Dursey head, Co Cork.<\/p>\n<p class=\"indo-ebe0ecc6_root indo-ebe0ecc6_paragraph indo-300db776_none indo-91174671_primary indo-1d70522a_marginbottom5 indo-1d70522a_margintop0 indo-b48c4984_inherit\" style=\"color:var(--color-primary-80)\">The vessel with the rescued crew members are due alongside the pier at Castletownbere at approximately 3.30pm.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An Irish Coast Guard helicopter.
