Munster centre Tom Farrell has signed a new contract to keep him at the province until the summer of 2028.<\/p>\n
The 32-year-old’s new two-year extension caps off a great week for the Dublin native, following his try-scoring performance in Munster’s 31-14 win against Leinster<\/a> on Saturday, and his call-up to the Ireland squad<\/a> on Monday.<\/p>\n Farrell joined Munster in the summer of 2024 after being released by Connacht, for whom he made 112 appearances in seven years.<\/p>\n The centre has rejuvenated his career at Munster, scoring 10 tries in 25 games last season, and winning the province’s Player of the Year award.<\/p>\n Farrell has continued that form through to this season, returning from injury to win man of the match in Munster’s URC round three meeting with Edinburgh, before scoring a try in last week’s win against Leinster.<\/p>\n A former Ireland U20 international, Farrell was called into the Ireland squad for the 2019 Six Nations by former head coach Joe Schmidt, only to miss out on the chance of winning a cap due to injury.<\/p>\n And while his 2024\/25 form was overlooked by Andy Farrell for the Ireland tour of Georgia and Portugal last summer, he was a late addition to the Irish squad which has travelled to Chicago this week, ahead of the meeting with New Zealand at Soldier Field on 1 November.<\/p>\n Listen to the RT\u00c9 Rugby podcast on Apple Podcasts<\/a>, Spotify<\/a> or wherever you get your podcasts<\/a>.<\/b><\/p>\n \n Follow a live blog on Munster v Connacht in the URC on Saturday from 7.45pm on the RT\u00c9 News App and on rte.ie\/sport.
