{"id":139374,"date":"2025-10-23T00:20:37","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T00:20:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/139374\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T00:20:37","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T00:20:37","slug":"comet-lemmon-lights-up-irish-skies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/139374\/","title":{"rendered":"Comet Lemmon Lights Up Irish Skies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/Comet-Lemmon-1200x675.jpg\" alt=\"Comet-Lemmon-1200x675 Comet Lemmon Lights Up Irish Skies\" class=\"wp-image-8988\" title=\"\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>A newly discovered comet, known as Comet Lemmon or C\/2025 A6 (Lemmon), is currently visible over Ireland, giving skywatchers a rare glimpse of an icy visitor as it makes its closest approach to Earth.<\/p>\n<p>Astronomy enthusiast and storm chaser Martin McKenna, of <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Nightskyhunter1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Nightskyhunter<\/a><\/strong>, captured a striking timelapse of the comet on Tuesday evening as the clouds cleared over the rural Co Derry village of Glenullin.<\/p>\n<p>In recent weeks, Comet Lemmon\u2019s tail and coma have become increasingly visible, with observers reporting strong binocular views from dark-sky sites across Ireland.<\/p>\n<p>The comet can currently be found low in the northwestern sky after nightfall, around 8pm, in the constellation Bo\u00f6tes, near the bright star Arcturus.
