{"id":140433,"date":"2025-10-23T11:41:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-23T11:41:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/140433\/"},"modified":"2025-10-23T11:41:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-23T11:41:07","slug":"dunnes-stores-set-to-close-three-grocery-shops","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/140433\/","title":{"rendered":"Dunnes Stores set to close three grocery shops"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dunnes Stores is set to close three of its grocery shops by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>It is understood the first of the three stores, in Cornelscourt Village in south Dublin, will close tomorrow.<\/p>\n<p>This is a small grocery outlet located a few hundred metres from the larger Dunnes Stores supermarket in Cornelscourt Shopping Centre.<\/p>\n<p>Then next Friday, 31 October, two more stores are set to shut.<\/p>\n<p>This includes one of the two Dunnes Stores located in the Ilac Centre (48-50 Henry St) in Dublin city centre, and the outlet on West Street in Drogheda, Co Louth.<\/p>\n<p>News of the closure of the Drogheda store was first reported last week, with up to 30 staff impacted.<\/p>\n<p>It is understood some workers in the shops that are closing have already been offered redeployment to other Dunnes outlets.<\/p>\n<p>The closures come despite industry figures earlier this week suggesting take-home grocery sales in Ireland rose by more than 6% in the month to October, with shoppers spending an additional \u20ac67.6m on groceries compared to the same month last year.<\/p>\n<p>The stats, from Worldpanel by Numerator, also indicate Dunnes has the largest market share of any grocery retailer at 24.4%.<\/p>\n<p>Dunnes Stores has been contacted for comment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Dunnes Stores is set to close three of its grocery shops by the end of this month.
