Keep reading to find out how these two teen stars met and details about their low-key relationship. <\/p>\n

2007<\/p>\n

Adam and Leighton meet for the first time at Canter\u2019s Deli in West Hollywood\u2014around the time The OC was ending and Gossip Girl was just starting. Adam recounted the moment to Anna Faris on her Unqualified podcast<\/a>, saying, \u201cJosh Schwartz produced both shows and literally the first time we met, that whole cast was eating at Canter\u2019s and I lived at Canter\u2019s for, like, my entire 20s. And I was leaving, and he introduced all of us.\u201d<\/p>\n

2011<\/p>\n

Adam and Leighton are cast in The Oranges, but he\u2019s dating someone else at the time. As he put it, \u201cWe did this movie together. I was seeing someone at the time….so we met kind of through mutual work friends off and on. And then we didn\u2019t get together until about a year after that movie, when I was single.\u201d

\u201cI was very attracted to her from jump,\u201d he added. \u201cShe\u2019s a heavenly creature. I thought she was gorgeous. And even when we did the movie, there was chemistry there, but I was seeing someone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adam and Leighton start dating! Us Weekly<\/a> breaks the news in early February, saying they\u2019ve been \u201changing out\u201d for a few weeks. They go public with their relationship that year at the premiere of Adam\u2019s film, Some Girl(s). <\/p>\n

And by November, E! News<\/a> reports that they\u2019re engaged.<\/p>\n

2014<\/p>\n

Adam and Leighton make it official. A source tells E! News<\/a> in February that \u201cLeighton and Adam got married in Northern California by the ocean a couple of weeks ago. It was a very small and intimate wedding with close family and friends. It was beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n

This same year, they costar in yet another movie: Life Partners. The name could…not be more accurate.<\/p>\n

They also make their first *official* red carpet appearance together at the Tony Awards!<\/p>\n

Leighton reveals her celeb crush growing up was, in fact, Adam, telling Access Hollywood<\/a>, \u201cWhen his show came out, I think I was just like, \u2018I don\u2019t want to watch that show, it\u2019s a teenage show,\u2019 even though I was 16, but all my friends watched it. I think maybe I thought he was cute. I remember he was a screensaver of one of my best friends when we were like 17. I saw it from afar. Her [screensaver] kind of changed every week, but I was like, who is that?\u201d <\/p>\n

Leighton calls Adam her soulmate during an interview with Net-a-Porter<\/a> saying, \u201cI wouldn\u2019t change anything [in the past] because I\u2019m happy where I am now. And I think that\u2019s one of the many wonderful parts of not only having a child and meeting your soulmate, but also, I feel really lucky career-wise, really in a place that I want to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Adam tells GQ<\/a>, \u201cShe\u2019s more inherently private than I am. I don\u2019t seek publicity, but if I\u2019m sitting next to you on the subway, I\u2019ll tell you everything about me. We\u2019re homebodies. We don\u2019t go to a lot of things that perhaps we could and don\u2019t seek out promotion in that way. I\u2019m not shitting on anyone who monetizes that aspect of their life, because I get it. But we\u2019ve found this great balance so far that really works for us. We\u2019re also not very active on social media.\u201d<\/p>\n

Adam talks about getting married to Leighton shortly after they started dating, saying on The Jess Cagle Show<\/a>, \u201cI was never scared of the idea of marriage or kids. It always seemed like a route I would go eventually, and I was excited…when it came together, when I met the right person…My wife and I actually got married very fast after we started dating. That\u2019s how sort of easy a decision it was for me and us.\u201d<\/p>\n

He also recalls being smitten with Leighton when he first met her, saying, \u201cI saw her, and, yeah, I was smitten instantly. And I was, you know, smitten for a long time. I didn\u2019t get to know her for many years after, even though we even worked together briefly. She\u2019s so lovely, and she\u2019s so sweet… She\u2019s so nice. She\u2019s so good. And yet, and this is to her credit, she remained elusive to me for so long, you know, and aloof.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continues, \u201cI couldn\u2019t get a total read because even though she professes to have been interested in me and all those things, not only did she not pursue that, I mean, she was perfectly willing to let that never happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

A source tells Us Weekly<\/a>, \u201cThey really live their lives like a normal couple. They love being able to stick up for the other and are happier and more comfortable when they\u2019re both on set.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Adam tells Today his key to a happy marriage: \u201cOh, pick someone good. Be lucky and be in love with someone who\u2019s great and then just kind of listen to them.\u201d

\u201cIf you\u2019re with someone great, you\u2019re on third base,\u201d he adds. \u201cNot that it doesn\u2019t take sacrifice and humility and you have to grow together and you have to be willing to grow, because you\u2019re not going to be able to stay 100 percent right where you are. But if you\u2019re with someone wonderful, I think you\u2019re on third base.\u201d<\/p>\n
