Mila Kunis<\/a> knows what you\u2019re not supposed to say about preparing for a movie, but she\u2019s going to say it anyway. <\/p>\n

The actor opened up to Vogue magazine<\/a> about the intense time she spent training for the Darren Aronofsky film, \u201cBlack Swan,\u201d for a retrospective piece in honor of the 15th anniversary of the movie.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy prep was a lot of dancing and very little eating \u2014 which I know you\u2019re not supposed to say, but it\u2019s the truth. I drank a lot of broth and danced for 12 hours a day,\u201d Kunis told Vogue.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were only supposed to have three months of prep before filming started, but we lost some financing, so that got extended to six months while Darren tried to find money,\u201d she added. \u201cIt sucked for Darren, but Nat and I were so happy because we had three extra months to dance.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe dance training for \u2018Black Swan\u2019 started a year before the film, with two hours a day,\u201d she said at the time. \u201cSix months later we ramped it up to five hours a day, and the last two months it was eight hours a day, because we added choreography and cross training, so I was also swimming a mile a day.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cThe discipline was good for the part \u2014 it hurt a lot; your body is in constant pain,\u201d Portman said, as the magazine added that the actor, \u201clike most dancers, she survived on coffee and ibuprofen, and slept five hours a night.\u201d <\/p>\n

While both Portman and Kunis were exerting themselves physically to the extreme, Aronofsky was also trying \u2015 unsuccessfully \u2015 to play mind games with the two. <\/p>\n

\u201cMy take is that I was trying to be a sneaky director and make them argue,\u201d the director shared with Vogue.<\/p>\n
