Irish retailer Dunnes Stores<\/a> is set to close three of its grocery shops by the end of this month.<\/p>\n

The first of the closures will take place this Friday (October 24), with the branch in Cornelscourt Village in south Dublin set to shut its doors for the final time.<\/p>\n

The small grocery outlet outlet is located just minutes from the larger Dunnes supermarket in Cornelscourt Shopping Centre.<\/p>\n

Two further Dunnes Stores outlets are set to close on Friday, 31 October.<\/p>\n

These include the store located on West Street in Drogheda, Co Louth<\/a>, which has been in business for more than 50 years and is one of the retailer’s earliest outlets.<\/p>\n

Staff at the Drogheda branch were informed of the impending closure by management last week, with the majority of employees set to be redeployed to nearby stores at the town\u2019s Scotch Hall and Colpe Cross shopping centres.<\/p>\n

One of the two Dunnes Stores located in the Ilac Centre (48-50 Henry St) in Dublin city centre is also set to close on Friday, October 31.<\/p>\n

The news comes after Dunnes Stores announced that it had pulled a popular children’s product from sale amid safety fears<\/a>.<\/p>\n

An urgent recall<\/a> has been issued for its 2 Pack Baby Boys and Girls Mittens after it was found they could pose a risk of injury.<\/p>\n

Safety officials have warned that long threads from the mittens could wrap around a baby’s finger, potentially causing swelling or loss of movement.<\/p>\n

The \u20ac2 mittens were sold both in stores and online, with around 4,100 of them purchased across Ireland.<\/p>\n

Customers who bought the affected items are being urged to stop using them immediately and keep them out of reach of children.<\/p>\n

The mittens can be returned to any Dunnes Stores branch<\/a> for a full refund.<\/p>\n
