Well, you\u2019re no North West; nor is your mother Kim Kardashian!<\/p>\n

However, since North West is indeed the daughter of Kim Kardashian, she can sport not only blue hair but also accessorize her look with face tattoos and piercings \u2013 even though she\u2019s just 12!<\/p>\n

North West\u2019s new look: Blue hair, face tattoos, multiple piercings
North West, the eldest daughter of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West<\/a>, is setting social media abuzz with a dramatic new look. Although the blue hair done in braids isn\u2019t a new phenomenon, the pre-teen has now unveiled the latest look with icy-blue contacts, and what appear to be face tattoos and piercings.
The only saving grace? None of the face tattoos and piercings are real \u2013 it\u2019s all \u201cfake!\u201d
In TikTok videos shared this week, she appeared wearing a mix of edgy accessories: faux face tattoos (including a star beneath one eye and cursive writing on her cheek), along with a faux septum ring, blue contact lenses, blue braids, and even a black dental grill. One of the captions of that bunch of videos read: \u201cFake piercings and fake tatts 4 life.\u201d
North\u2019s outfit has caught the attention, too: an oversized black graphic tee, matching shorts, chunky sneakers, multiple silver chains, and dramatic makeup (glittery manicure, fake lashes).
Internet\u2019s take
A 12-year-old sporting blue hair, face tattoos, piercings, and whatnot \u2013 even though they\u2019re fake \u2013 will inevitably have a range of reactions starting from sheer surprise\/shock to grave concern. North West\u2019s case is no exception here.
While some social media users have lauded North\u2019s confidence, calling her style daring, fashionably creative, and \u201cdaddy’s daughter,\u201d some have argued that she is being styled too maturely for her age.
For example, one user wrote, “Age 12, poor parenting, lost the child in her a long time ago,” while another commented, “This is scary,” while a third added, “Poor parental care.” One user even mixed humor with their shock, and went on: “What in the Kanye West is happening?” while another shared, “Bro, I’m 15 and my momma won’t even let me get a simple nose piercing.”
Pop parenting and a poor one?
Nothing about Kim Kardashian is generic or usual, so why would her parental choices be?
The American socialite has often come under fire for her parenting style and lately due to North\u2019s \u201cbold\u201d fashion choices. However, Kim has her narrative sorted. On a recent podcast appearance, talking about her daughter\u2019s blue hair and supporting her \u201ccreative choice\u201d, Kim K said, \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018Babe, if you want blue hair, it is what it is. It makes her so happy. I would never take that creativity away from her.\u2019\u201d
However, Kim has acknowledged some missteps as well. She admitted that allowing North to wear a corset top and platform boots on a family vacation was \u201ca mistake\u201d and part of her ongoing learning as a mother. The businesswoman and reality star reflected on the balancing act of parenting, creativity, and setting boundaries as well, saying, \u201cIt\u2019s really hard \u2026 the kids are wearing the same things. But then my daughter tries to wear it \u2026 and then I\u2019m like, \u2018OK, we\u2019re never wearing that again.\u2019\u201d
Kim also emphasized how much she admires her daughter\u2019s confidence, as she shared North\u2019s take on all the criticism pointed at her: \u201cI don\u2019t really care if someone says they don\u2019t like my blue hair\u2026 I probably wouldn\u2019t be hanging out with those people.\u201d
The bigger picture
A mother-daughter dynamic is always a complex one. On one hand, creative freedom and confidence-building certainly are positive aspects. On the other, a child\u2019s exposure to adult trends (tattoos, piercings, heavy makeup) quite obviously raises questions about developmental appropriateness, peer culture pressures, and long-term identity formation.
More than all those factors, it\u2019s almost impossible to avoid the ripple effects of the choices the Kardashian-Jenner clan has made \u2013 looking at their past (and present continuous) record of opting for several cosmetic procedures in order to conform with and simultaneously set unrealistic beauty standards.
Will the Kardashian-Jenner children be walking the same path in the near future?
