Polls suggest a large number of voters are dissatisfied with the limited field of candidates. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">\u201cYet opting out of the process, or deliberately spoiling a ballot, is not the best way to express that discontent&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">\u201cThose who can vote on Friday should make the effort. Photograph: Bairbre Holmes\/PA Wire<br \/>\n Final day of campaigning<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free b-it-article-body__text--left\">The final day of campaigning saw another opinion poll, this time from the Irish Independent\/Ireland Thinks, which suggested Ms Connolly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/politics\/2025\/10\/24\/presidential-election-catherine-connolly-overwhelming-favourite-beat-heather-humphreys\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/politics\/2025\/10\/24\/presidential-election-catherine-connolly-overwhelming-favourite-beat-heather-humphreys\/\">continues to hold a commanding lead<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Excluding undecided voters, the poll predicted a first-count win for Ms Connolly, with 56 per cent of the vote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">Speaking about the strong opinion poll performance on Thursday, Ms Connolly said: \u201cIt\u2019s wonderful for my team but we take absolutely nothing for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph free \">She told reporters at St Anne\u2019s National School in Co Roscommon: \u201cI would appeal to everyone to come out and vote.
