Keane has been out of frontline management since leaving Ipswich in January 2011, with his coaching story grinding to a halt after spells as an assistant with Aston Villa and alongside Martin O\u2019Neill with Ireland and at Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n
Former Ireland and Manchester United captain Keane has not entirely given up on his desire to get back into management despite his long absence and suggested he would like to work with his former Ireland team-mate Duff, who won the League of Ireland title with Shelbourne last year.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s done a good job in Ireland, and he\u2019s just left a job,\u201d said Keane. \u201cIt\u2019s his dynamics; the way he speaks, the way he comes across.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuffer\u2019s been up at Celtic, he\u2019s done his coaching with Ireland. He won the league with Shelbourne last year, but then he just left recently.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gary Neville expressed his surprise at Keane\u2019s selection of Duff, as he revealed he saw an interview with the former Ireland and Chelsea winger during his time and described his comments as \u201cspiky\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019d be the bad cop and I\u2019d be the good cop,\u201d added Keane with a wry smile on the latest Stick To Football podcast.<\/p>\n
Keane has been linked with several management roles in recent years and was a strong contender to take over at Celtic on a couple of occasions, while he also held talks over a second spell as Sunderland boss.<\/p>\n
His coaching career appeared to be over after he settled into a lucrative career working in the media, but Keane hinted last year that he would be open to a comeback.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve had opportunities, but sometimes you get offered a contract and you have to look at it with self-worth, is it the right deal for you? I\u2019d like to go back in (to management), but I\u2019m not desperate to sign any contract for anybody,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
