Spandau Ballet star Martin Kemp has shared an update with fans after it was revealed he was rushed to hospital following an accident with a chainsaw which saw him injure his hand<\/p>\n

Martin Kemp<\/a> has offered an update to concerned fans after he was taken to hospital following a chainsaw accident.<\/a><\/p>\n

The Spandau Ballet star, 64, took to Instagram to share a video and reveal how he’s doing after receiving floods of messages from concerned fans. Martin was taken to hospital after he injured his fingers when he picked up a chainsaw by the blade and it switched on.<\/p>\n

Martin’s concerned son Roman Kemp discussed the incident on a recent episode of his podcast You About? alongside Tom Grennan, as his son said he was “lucky not to lose his hand” in the accident.<\/p>\n

Now Martin has offered an update with fans as he posted a video to his Instagram page. In the clip, he explained: “Hey guys, just a little message. You might have seen in the papers that I had a terrible accident with a chainsaw, which I did, but it was last week.<\/p>\n

“I’m a lot better now. And just to let you know, if you were worried and you are going to Lincoln Cathedral tonight for the DJ gig, it is still on.<\/p>\n

“But I appreciate your concerns. And listen, it’s getting better by the minute.”<\/p>\n

Laughing, he continued: “I will explain how it happened another time, but just to reassure you, I am alright.” Martin concluded his message with: “Lots of love, bye.”<\/p>\n

As Martin posted the video, he wrote alongside it: “Don\u2019t worry I am fine Now!!! All gigs are still on!!!!” His update was met with well-wishes by fans in the comments, as one wrote: “So good to hear that you are ok”, and another said: “Very happy to hear you are okay. Maybe get a professional in next time. Take care.”<\/p>\n

While a third penned: “Sending healing hugs to Shirley\u2019s Silver fox xxx”.<\/p>\n

It comes after Martin’s son Roman revealed the shocking incident on his podcast. Roman explained on the latest episode of his and 30-year-old singer Tom’s You About? podcast that he did not know what had happened to Martin until the Gold singer sent a picture of his bandaged fingers to the family WhatsApp<\/a> group. Roman told Tom: “Oh God. It\u2019s scary.<\/p>\n

“Friday night, I\u2019d just finished work and looked at my phone, and dad sent a picture of his hand with all fingers heavily strapped up.<\/p>\n

“And all he writes underneath in the family WhatsApp group is, ‘Yep \u2026 chainsaw’ …<\/p>\n

“I was texting him saying, ‘What?’ but got no reply, and then Harley, my sister, is like, ‘What\u2019s happened?\u2019 but again, no reply.”<\/p>\n

Martin eventually gave an explanation for the photo. Roman continued: “So he said, ‘Oh, there was a bit of the branch that we wanted chopping down, so I went and got a chainsaw.’<\/p>\n

“Do you know what he said? ‘I picked it up from the blade and it didn\u2019t have the sheath on it.’<\/p>\n

“He said it switched on \u2026 he\u2019s picked it up and it\u2019s kicked into gear.”<\/p>\n

Roman added that Martin was “lucky not to lose his hand”, saying: “I know a mate who lost a finger through that.”<\/p>\n

Roman wished Martin had hired an expert to sort out the garden instead of him handling the chainsaw.<\/p>\n

Roman said: “He\u2019s 65. He\u2019s got more than enough dough. Get a professional in, you can\u2019t be doing that.”<\/p>\n
