{"id":14491,"date":"2025-08-21T19:02:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-21T19:02:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/14491\/"},"modified":"2025-08-21T19:02:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-21T19:02:09","slug":"teenager-19-charged-with-murder-of-ian-walsh-in-tipperary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/14491\/","title":{"rendered":"Teenager, 19, charged with murder of Ian Walsh in Tipperary\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A teenager has been charged with the murder of Irish Rail worker Ian Walsh in his Tipperary home.<\/p>\n<p>Nathan Hanlon, aged 19, was charged with Mr Walsh\u2019s murder at 62 Ravenswood Estate on Cregg Rd in Carrick-on-Suir on August 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr Walsh, 49, was found dead at his home on Monday, August 4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Sergeant Denis Ryan told a special sitting of Clonmel District Court that Mr Hanlon was arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday at 1 Castle View, Ballyneale.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The defendant was charged on Thursday, after 3pm, Sgt Ryan said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr Hanlon made no reply after caution, Sgt Ryan said, and he was handed a true copy of the charge sheet after his arrest.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr Hanlon, of 1 Castle View, Ballyneale, Carrick-an-Suir, was remanded in custody by Judge Miriam Walsh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He will next appear before Clonmel District Court on August 26.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/4751160_9_articleinline_IanWalshTailteToursFacebookRIP.jpg\" alt=\"Ian Walsh, who was found dead in his home in Tipperary. Picture: T\u00e1ilte Tours\/Facebook<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">His solicitor, John M Joy, asked that his client appear in person \u2014 rather than via video link \u2014 on that date.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">Mr Joy requested a psychological assessment for the accused.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">He also requested legal aid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">No bail application could be made in the district court on a murder charge.<\/p>\n<p class=\"\">The defendant, who appeared this evening before Clonmel District Court, wore a black top, black trousers and black trainers.
