{"id":145334,"date":"2025-10-25T23:19:07","date_gmt":"2025-10-25T23:19:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/145334\/"},"modified":"2025-10-25T23:19:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-25T23:19:07","slug":"breaking-internal-email-reveals-limerick-mayors-call-for-new-team-to-oversee-transformation","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/145334\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING: Internal email reveals Limerick mayor&#8217;s call for &#8216;new team&#8217; to oversee &#8216;transformation&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MAYOR John Moran has stated it is now \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/breaking-news\/1927717\/breaking-full-details-revealed-of-how-the-people-of-limerick-city-voted-in-presidential-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">essential<\/a>\u201d that Limerick City and County Council has a \u201cspecific new experienced team\u201d to guide it through the \u201ctransformation\u201d brought about by his election.<\/p>\n<p>In an email to council staff &#8211; but not councillors &#8211; issued on Friday night and seen by Limerick Live &#8211; he stated there is a need to \u201capproach things differently\u201d in the local authority, \u201cand ensure we have the right resources in place\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis includes having the right people, skills, tools and support to help us navigate the change to a different approach,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>READ MORE:\u00a0<\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.limerickleader.ie\/news\/breaking-news\/1927717\/breaking-full-details-revealed-of-how-the-people-of-limerick-city-voted-in-presidential-election.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Full details revealed of how the people of Limerick City voted in Presidential Election<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mayor Moran\u2019s Friday email came in response to an email sent on Thursday by the local authority\u2019s director general Dr Pat Daly to council staff and councillors.<\/p>\n<p>In that email, Dr Daly highlighted an interview the mayor gave to Live95 on Wednesday last over Christmas in Limerick, expressing his \u201cdisappointment\u201d with Mayor Moran\u2019s comments.<\/p>\n<p>In his email, issued on Friday night, Mayor John Moran said he is \u201cdisappointed\u201d with the communication sent by Dr Daly, adding: \u201cThere are two sides to every debate\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>On Live95 on Wednesday, the first citizen had said: \u201cI believe in looking after public money, as I think everyone does, but it&#8217;s a question of higher standards\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Moran said Dr Daly\u2019s email on Thursday has \u201cbrought welcome clarity for the people of Limerick that we all here share an ambition to deliver more for them, but we are constrained in our ability to do it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He says Limerick City and County Council has not changed into an organisation \u201ccapable of maximising the opportunity of having the country\u2019s first directly elected mayor with all the advantages for Limerick that are embedded in the legislation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the latest email from Mayor Moran &#8211; issued on Friday night &#8211; he has confirmed he has asked leading Government officials to be given \u201csupport\u201d to \u201cbring in the help I need\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have long been of the view that a specific new experienced team to guide us through the transformation would be very helpful. Indeed, with the passage of time, I now think that is essential,\u201d the mayor wrote in the email sent on Friday night, to all staff in the local authority, but not his fellow councillors.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo keep building on our successes &#8211; and to learn and grow from the times things do not go as planned &#8211; I believe we need to approach things differently and ensure we have the right<\/p>\n<p>In his email on Friday ahead of the October Bank Holiday weekend, Mayor Moran has insisted that he holds the staff and management of Limerick City and County Council \u201cin the highest regard\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLike I am sure many of you, I have been brought up by my parents to always try and be the best version of what I can be. I live in a world where continuous improvement is therefore the aim and also possible when we believe in ourselves and have the right supports,\u201d Ireland\u2019s first ever directly elected mayor added<\/p>\n<p>He thanked the \u201cmany\u201d people \u201cwho welcomed my recent comments and took the time to understand the message I was trying to convey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy main point is the people of Limerick deserve even more from us when it comes to delivering results right across our city and county.
