Ty Dolla $ign stopped by DJ WhooKid\u2019s show<\/a> on Eminem\u2019s Shade45 to talk about his style, influences, relationship with other stars, admiration for the rap legend, and how their collaboration came to be. <\/p>\n

During the chat, WhooKid reminded Ty of a bold statement he once made online.<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw somewhere you said Eminem is one of the biggest artists in your world\u201d, the host said.<\/p>\n

Ty did not hesitate. \u201cBack in the day, I tweeted it\u201d, he replied. \u201cI\u2019ll never forget it because I actually stand on it and believe it. The only rapper better than Eminem is Slim Shady\u201d.<\/p>\n

Then he explained why. \u201cName somebody who made a better song than \u2018Stan\u2019! Writing, making people cry, changing people\u2019s lives \u2013 there are certain people that can do that. He did that in rap\u201d.<\/p>\n

Ty Dolla $ign on Eminem\u2019s Impact<\/p>\n

Ty placed Eminem in the same league as very few musical icons. \u201cThere are songs that change lives\u201d, he said. \u201c\u2018Today Was a Good Day\u2019 by Ice Cube is one. The Beatles did that a gang of times. Eminem did it too. I always looked up to him. And I\u2019ve got to make a song with him!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Story Behind Their Collaboration<\/p>\n

To this day, he sounds excited about working with Em. According to Ty, it happened during the pandemic. \u201cI was just recording, having fun, not knowing what would happen\u201d, he recalled. \u201cNext thing you know, I get the Eminem call. I\u2019m like, what?!\u201d<\/p>\n

Subsequently, that call led to \u201cMy Favourite Bitch\u201d, featured on \u201cMusic to Be Murdered By: Side B\u201d. Apparently, they recorded the song after the album\u2019s original release in January 2020.<\/p>\n

Interestingly, just weeks before the project dropped, Ty had publicly praised Eminem<\/a> and asked for a feature. Soon enough, Slim Shady answered.<\/p>\n

Ty\u2019s respect for Em has not changed.
