A British holidaymaker has died and another is critically injured after reportedly falling from a hotel railing in Lanzarote’s Costa Teguise.<\/p>\n

A holidaymaker has died and another is in a critical condition after reportedly falling nearly 20ft in Lanzarote <\/a>when a hotel railing ‘gave way’.<\/p>\n

The incident happened early this morning at a hotel in the popular resort of Costa Teguise, Mirror UK<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

A 56-year-old British man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 54-year-old British man was seriously injured and rushed to Doctor Jose Molina Orosa Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.<\/p>\n

Emergency services were called to the hotel at around 1.30am after reports that two people had fallen from a ‘considerable height’.<\/p>\n

Members of the Canary Islands Emergency Service (SUC), local police and Spanish Civil Guard<\/a> attended to the scene.<\/p>\n

Local reports indicate that the railing that gave way was located in an elevated area of the hotel complex.<\/p>\n

The Civil Guard has opened an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for the UK Foreign Office<\/a> told Mirror UK: “We are providing support to the family of a British man who has died and to the family of a British man who has been injured in Spain.”<\/p>\n

In August, a British tourist on holiday in Spain was left with horrifying injuries after he fell off a hotel balcony. The 22-year-old holidaymaker fell from the third floor of the building in Ibiza at around 8pm on August 18, suffering injuries to his chest and head.<\/p>\n
