The family of a teenager who was allegedly set on fire have revealed the horrific extent of his injuries.<\/p>\n

Jacob Thompson, 19, was walking along Cowper Street in Coonabarabran, New South Wales, along the east coast of Australia<\/a> around 6pm local time on Monday, October 13, when he was approached by a man and two women.<\/p>\n

It’s alleged that one of the group poured a liquid over Jacob before setting him alight. Good Samaritans extinguished the flames and Jacob was rushed to hospital for treatment.<\/p>\n

Jacob’s family have now revealed that the teenager suffered burns to 32 per cent of his body, including severe third-degree burns to his face, torso, arms, back, and legs.<\/p>\n

Due to the severity of his injuries and damage to his airways, Jacob was airlifted to Sydney and placed into an induced coma on life support, according to a family statement.<\/p>\n

Jacob is currently in intensive care at Concord Hospital, in Sydney’s inner west, with his family constantly at his bedside, reports the Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“This deeply traumatic incident was witnessed by his immediate family and partner, leaving physical and emotional scars that will take a lifetime to heal,” the family stated.<\/p>\n

Police confirmed in a statement that “a 45-year-old woman, a 19-year-old man, and a 17-year-old girl were arrested at a nearby property.<\/p>\n

“They were all taken to Coonabarabran Police Station where the man was charged with cause grievous bodily harm to person with intent, and affray; the older woman was also charged with affray. They were refused bail.”<\/p>\n

The spokesperson added: “The teenage girl was released pending further investigation.”<\/p>\n

A GoFundMe<\/a> page has been launched to help the family as they relocate and Mr Thompson recovers from his injuries.<\/p>\n

A message on the page read: “Jacob now faces a long and painful journey of ongoing medical treatment, rehabilitation, recovery, and ultimately, the need to relocate to a safe environment for his treatment and the entire family\u2019s health and wellbeing<\/p>\n

“The family would be grateful if you could support by donating, no matter how big or small, every cent will make a difference towards helping Jacob and his family rebuild their lives.”<\/p>\n
