Steve Martin<\/a> has shared the text exchange that saw him get involved in Yungblud<\/a> and Aerosmith<\/a>\u2018s new version of \u2018My Only Angel\u2019.<\/p>\n

Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler<\/a> and guitarist Joe Perry joined forces with Yungblud on stage at the 2025 MTV VMAs<\/a> to pay tribute to Ozzy Osbourne<\/a>, and later went on to confirm that they had collaborated on an EP called \u2018One More Time\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Set for release on November 21, the first preview of the EP \u2013 a powerful track titled \u2018My Only Angel\u2019<\/a> \u2013 arrived last month and marked Aerosmith\u2019s first original release in over 12 years.<\/p>\n

Last week, Yungblud and Aerosmith went on to share a \u2018Desert Road Version\u2019 of the lead single, which sees them put a more stripped-back, emotional spin on it, and bring in acclaimed actor Steve Martin for a guest appearance.<\/p>\n

Aside from taking on the lead in films including Planes, Trains And Automobiles, Cheaper By The Dozen, and Father Of The Bride \u2013 and more recently starring in hit series Only Murders In The Building<\/a> \u2013 Martin is also a celebrated musician and has won multiple Grammys. He contributed banjo to the \u2018Desert Road Version\u2019 of the Aerosmith song.<\/p>\n

Now, taking to social media, Martin has shared the text exchange that led to the guest feature.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m playing banjo on a Steven Tyler song! Here\u2019s our text exchange for no particular reason,\u201d he wrote in the caption. In the text messages, Tyler is seen asking \u201cHave you had a chance to [ear emoji]\u201d, to which Martin responds: \u201cI have not gotten the song! I wrote you but didn\u2019t hear back. Oh, I think I mistyped a number. Can you send it now?\u201d<\/p>\n

After briefly joking about how they both wrote down each other\u2019s phone numbers incorrectly, Martin says that he had now got the song through. On October 1, Tyler messaged again to thank Martin for his contributions.<\/p>\n

The original version of \u2018My Only Angel\u2019 debuted at the top of Billboard\u2019s Hot Hard Rock Songs chart when it was shared on September 19, and it remained in the Top 10 for three weeks.<\/p>\n

The forthcoming \u2018One More Time\u2019 EP is produced by Matt Schwartz and is set to arrive next month via Capitol. It features four original tracks co-written by Aerosmith and Yungblud, as well as a 2025 mix of the band\u2019s classic song \u2018Back In The Saddle\u2019. Pre-order\/pre-save here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It will be the first new music from Aerosmith since they retired from touring last summer due to Tyler injuring his vocal cords<\/a>. Their 15th and latest studio album, \u2018Music From Another Dimension!\u2019, arrived back in 2012.<\/p>\n
