Dublin pub group Grand Slam Bars saw pretax profits nearly double to \u20ac983,000, as revenues grew following the group\u2019s midyear acquisition of McSorley\u2019s in Ranelagh.<\/p>\n
In newly filed financial accounts, the group said its performance \u201chas continued to improve year on year\u201d noting that turnover has increased from \u20ac9.4 million to \u20ac11.3 million. <\/p>\n
The bar group is owned by Noel Anderson<\/a>, the former chairman of the Licensed Vintners Association (LVA), along with four former Irish international rugby players Jamie Heaslip<\/a>, Sean O\u2019Brien<\/a>, and the Kearney brothers Rob<\/a> and Dave<\/a>.<\/p>\n Grand Slam Bars owns the Bridge bar in Ballsbridge, the Blackrock in the south Dublin suburb of the same name and the Lemon & Duke and Little Lemon in the city centre. During the financial year, it bought McSorley\u2019s pub in Ranelagh, Dublin 6, for \u20ac5.5 million.<\/p>\n The majority of the group\u2019s turnover \u2013 \u20ac7.3 million, or around two-thirds of revenue \u2013 was generated from the sale of alcoholic drinks. This represented a significant increase on drinks sales in the previous year at \u20ac5.75 million. <\/p>\n Food sales also increased, up marginally to \u20ac3.8 million, alongside tea and coffee sales which rose from \u20ac44,000 to \u20ac133,000. <\/p>\n The group saw pretax profits increase by 90 per cent from \u20ac518,000 in the financial year ending in February 2024 to just over \u20ac983,000 this past year. The group\u2019s assets have risen to \u20ac14.6 million from just over \u20ac8 million in 2024.<\/p>\n Buoyed by the acquisition of McSorley\u2019s pub, the company had an average of 153 employees, an increase of 16 jobs on the previous year.
