\n\tJennifer Lawrence<\/a> is peeling back the curtain on why she\u2019s grown to not be so fond of speaking with the press.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring an interview with The New Yorker<\/a>, the Die My Love<\/a> star recalled telling Viola Davis, \u201cEvery time I do an interview, I think, \u2018I can\u2019t do this to myself again.\u2019 I feel like I lose so much control over my craft when I have to do press for a movie.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe interviewee later brought up the topic of Lawrence\u2019s past articles, to which she responded, \u201cOh, no. So hyper. So embarrassing.\u201d The Oscar winner was once loved by fans due to her quirky, authentic nature, though online sentiment somewhat turned on her, with some claiming her personality was faux.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWell, it is, or it was, my genuine personality, but it was also a defense mechanism,\u201d Lawrence said. \u201cAnd so it was a defense mechanism, to just be, like, \u2018I\u2019m not like that! I poop my pants every day!\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tShe cited Ariana Grande\u2019s 2016 impersonation of herself on Saturday Night Live as a time she found herself \u201cannoying.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI look at those interviews, and that person is annoying,\u201d she added. \u201cI get why seeing that person everywhere would be annoying. Ariana Grande\u2019s impression of me on SNL was spot-on.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tStill, Lawrence said the backlash made things feel \u201cuninhabitable,\u201d noting she felt \u201crejected\u201d for her own \u201cpersonality\u201d at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI felt\u2014I didn\u2019t feel, I was, I think\u2014rejected not for my movies, not for my politics, but for me, for my personality,\u201d she explained. The Hunger Games actress has been candid in discussing the evolution<\/a> of her career, and revealed that she parted ways<\/a> with her former agency, CAA, as she felt she was viewed more as a \u201ccelebrity than an actor\u201d and was \u201ccut off from my creativity, my imagination.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI found out that a lot of filmmakers that I really loved and admired had scripts that weren\u2019t even reaching me,\u201d Lawrence told The New York Times in 2022. \u201cI had let myself be hijacked.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s 2022 actress roundtable<\/a>, Lawrence addressed on feeling \u201chijacked\u201d in her career, noting that she was with a \u201cbig agency\u201d but also felt like she \u201cwas just losing touch with the world a little bit.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI was working so much, and so much of what we do has to do with observing people.
