{"id":150086,"date":"2025-10-28T19:18:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-28T19:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/150086\/"},"modified":"2025-10-28T19:18:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-28T19:18:10","slug":"shock-in-strabane-as-thirty-youths-throw-bricks-at-passing-cars","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/150086\/","title":{"rendered":"Shock in Strabane as THIRTY youths throw bricks at passing cars"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Police in Strabane say at as many as THIRTY youths were throwing bricks at passing cars in the town yesterday evening, as well as commiting other antisocial offences.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Shortly before 6pm, Police received reports that approximately thirty youths were causing a major disturbance in the Bradley Way area.<\/p>\n<p>They allege that the youths were running into traffic, before throwing bricks and heavy masonry at oncoming vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>Two vehicles were damaged during the incident, including a Police patrol car, which had a window smashed.<\/p>\n<p>In a pair of incidents which Police believed to be connected to the initial brick-throwing disturbance, entry was gained to a vacant building in the Bradley Way area, and youths also gained access to the yard of a business at the nearby Park Road.<\/p>\n<p>Police have made appeals to youths involved in these activities to seriously think about the consequences of their actions \u2013 and for parents to speak to their children about where they are and the company their keep.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would appeal to those involved in anti-social behaviour of any kind to think seriously about the consequences of their actions. Someone could have been seriously injured or worse due to their behaviour,\u201d Police Sargeant Crawford said in a statement following the incidents.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI would ask parents and guardians to speak to their young people about where they are and who they are with, and to warn them of the dangers of getting involved in this type of incident.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all have a responsibility to help make where we live safer for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cReporting crimes or incidents that impact on your quality of life helps focus our patrols where they are needed and take positive action.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe do not want to criminalise young people, however if offences are identified, we will deal with these robustly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice patrols will be out and about to deter anti-social behaviour, as well as engage with and support local communities.
