every year without getting a pension because of a gender gap, according to research.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/tuc\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:TUC;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">TUC<\/a> estimated women were losing the equivalent of \u00a37,600 a year on average.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The union organisation said compared to men, retired women effectively stop receiving pension income from today.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The income gap between men and women in retirement is now 36.5%, according to research from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/prospect\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Prospect;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Prospect<\/a> union.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.independent.co.uk\/topic\/government\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" data-ylk=\"slk:Government;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \">Government<\/a> has revived the Pension Commission, which will bring together unions, employer and independent experts to look into the causes of the gap.<\/p>\n<p>     <img decoding=\"async\" and security in retirement, but too many retired women have been left without enough to get by.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cWe must make sure that these inequalities are addressed for future generations.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cThat\u2019s why reviving the Pensions Commission \u2013 bringing together unions, employers and independent experts \u2013 is a vital step forward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cWe now have a chance to make sure everyone, including women, receive the decent retirement income that all workers need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">A Government spokesperson said: \u201cWe\u2019re determined to close the gender pensions gap, and the new state pension has already reduced historic inequalities faced by women and low earners.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">\u201cAlongside this, the Pensions Commission will tackle barriers to close the gender pensions gap in private pensions to ensure women have the dignity
