A local man appeared in court last week for attacking a bouncer a year after he had refused him entry to a bar.<\/p>\n
The attacked party was eating a meal with his family in the Uluru when he was attacked.<\/p>\n
“I just wanted to get him back,” the assailant told Garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
Michael Taylor, with an address at 2 Ardmore Park, Ballybeg, pleaded guilty to one count of assault and two counts of making threats to kill or cause serious harm.<\/p>\n
He appeared in Waterford Circuit Court last week in relation to the offences.<\/p>\n
The incident of assault took place in the Uluru Bar & Restaurant.<\/p>\n
The attacked party was eating a meal with his family in the premises at the time.<\/p>\n
CCTV footage shows two men, Taylor and his father, approaching the group who were sitting at a table.<\/p>\n
Taylor struck the man with two punches to the head.<\/p>\n
The attacked party suffered a nasal fracture and damage to his eye area.<\/p>\n
He alerted Garda\u00ed to the incident and Taylor was subsequently located and interviewed.<\/p>\n
Taylor told garda\u00ed during the interview that the attacked party had refused him entry to a licensed premises while he was working as a bouncer in the city, a year prior to the incident in the Uluru.<\/p>\n
\u201cI just wanted to get him back,\u201d he told garda\u00ed.<\/p>\n
Taylor had also sent threatening messages and voice notes to the attacked party.<\/p>\n
The messages contained \u201cextremely offensive language”, the court heard.<\/p>\n
Judge Eugene O\u2019Kelly outlined to the court that the Uluru is a family patroned premises, and that the attack took place on a Sunday afternoon when families were present.<\/p>\n
He said that the injured party was \u201ca totally innocent man who was enjoying a meal with his family\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n
He described Taylor\u2019s behaviour as \u201cshocking\u201d.<\/p>\n
Michael Taylor is due to return for sentencing on January 14.<\/p>\n
