Larger than life, and larger than imagination, the appropriately titled, nearly four-hour \u201cBaahubali: The Epic<\/a>\u201d condenses footage from both halves of S.S. Rajamouli<\/a>\u2019s industry-shifting action duology \u2014 \u201cBaahubali: The Beginning<\/a>\u201d (2015) and \u201cBaahubali: The Conclusion<\/a>\u201d (2017) \u2014 but maintains the filmmaker\u2019s vision and his pulse-pounding visual splendor. Upon their release, the grandiose period myths usurped the Hindi-language Bollywood industry and irrevocably changed the face of mainstream Indian cinema, en route to Rajamouli\u2019s global crossover hit \u201cRrr<\/a>\u201d in 2022.<\/p>\n

Fans of the latter who haven\u2019t experienced his other work will have the chance on Oct. 29, via a combined Telugu re-release with a built-in intermission and some technical updates overseen by the filmmaker himself. It\u2019s a refashioned edit of the sword-and-sandal \u201cBaahubali<\/a>\u201d saga that, despite some languid scenes and occasionally discomforting optics, yields some of the most magnificent big-screen action and melodrama of the last decade.<\/p>\n
