Mubi has released the official trailer for Kelly Reichardt<\/a>\u2019s new film, The Mastermind<\/a>, focusing on Josh O\u2019Connor<\/a>\u2019s character Jb Mooney\u2019s preparations for an art heist.<\/p>\n

The movie is set in Massachusetts in the 1970s, where O\u2019Connor\u2019s unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief plans his first major crime. But, per the film\u2019s logline, \u201cwhen things go haywire, his life unravels.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to O\u2019Connor, The Mastermind, which Reichardt wrote and directed, stars Alana Haim<\/a>, Gaby Hoffman<\/a>, John Magaro<\/a>, Hope Davis<\/a> and Bill Camp<\/a> and will be released on Oct. 17.<\/p>\n

The trailer begins with a shot of Jb picking up a newspaper outside of his home to set the scene. He is then seen at a family dinner, where his father (Camp) points out that he has \u201ca good amount of time\u201d on his hands due to his lack of work.<\/p>\n
