{"id":155708,"date":"2025-10-31T17:45:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-31T17:45:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/155708\/"},"modified":"2025-10-31T17:45:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-31T17:45:12","slug":"breaking-popular-limerick-pub-announces-closure","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/155708\/","title":{"rendered":"Breaking: Popular Limerick pub announces closure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.live95fm.ie\/news\/live95-news\/\" class=\"c-btn c-btn--small c-btn--secondary-fill\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><\/p>\n<p>        All Live95 News<br \/>\n    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>                <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aiir-c-news-figure__image\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/ie\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/6904d26ee1632.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><br \/>\n                                    via Instagram<\/p>\n<p class=\"aiir-c-news-article__abstract\">\n            The news was announced by the business owners today.\n        <\/p>\n<p>Crew Brew, the popular pub and brewery in Limerick city, has announced it is to close on Christmas eve.<\/p>\n<p>Crew was set up by friends from Belfast with a passion for beer, community, and craic and has become a popular venue on Thomas Street in the city since it opened in 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The owner of the venue Jono Crute said the business was facing &#8216;the same challenges as everybody in the industry currently&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Crute said rising costs and less money in the pockets of customers were the reasons behind the decision, which was revealed this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We had intended to fight through these issues as we always have, but the removal of the parklet without notice and without a succession plan was the final blow to the business&#8217;s viability and to my mental capacity to fight on&#8221;, Crute said in a post on Instagram this afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;d encourage you all to keep minding each other and keep drinking independent beer where you can&#8221;, he added.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Live 95 News this afternoon, a customer of the venue said they were sorry to hear the news and described the closure as another blow to the city centre.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The pub was known as a venue to host fundraisers for different causes, and you were allowed to bring food from other smaller traders nearby.
