That, in essence, is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tesla\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/tesla\/\">Tesla<\/a>\u2019s pitch as shareholders prepare to vote on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/elon-musk\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.irishtimes.com\/tags\/elon-musk\/\">Elon Musk<\/a>\u2019s proposed $1 trillion pay deal. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The board has warned that if the package is rejected, Musk might quit or lose interest \u2013 a threat that has rallied his fan base. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">\u201cWE STAND WITH ELON,\u201d declares @TeslaBoomerMama, a self-described \u201cfangirl of Elon\u201d and retail shareholder with over 200,000 followers on X.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">The sympathy may be misplaced. Musk already owns almost $200 billion in Tesla stock. Tesla chair Robyn Denholm warns that if Musk walks, the share price would likely tank. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Perhaps, but so then would Musk\u2019s fortune. Musk\u2019s threat to leave has shades of Blazing Saddles, where the sheriff holds a gun to his own head to get his way. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph paywall \">Prediction markets seem to agree.
