A well-known red wine has been withdrawn from shop shelves following an urgent health<\/a> alert issued by safety officials for a particular batch.<\/p>\n The Food Safety Authority of Ireland is urging certain customers who have bought the affected bottle to cease consumption straight away. The recall impacts a specific batch of Vale View Schuyler Irish Grown Red Wine 2023.<\/p>\n It was discovered to contain sulphur dioxide, which is not declared in the ingredients list. A ‘do not consume’ alert has been issued to individuals who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide, as the substance could present serious health dangers, reports the Irish Mirror<\/a>.<\/p>\n The FSAI<\/a> stated: “The above batch of Vale View Schuyler Irish Grown Red Wine contains sulphur dioxide which is not declared in the list of ingredients. This may make the batch unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of sulphur dioxide and therefore, these consumers should not drink the implicated batch. The affected batch is being recalled.”<\/p>\n The impacted bottles carry the batch code 2023Sch01. Sulphur dioxide is frequently utilised as a preservative in wine and other food products.<\/p>\n People who are allergic or intolerant may develop symptoms including headaches, wheezing, coughing, breathlessness, skin rashes, hives or nausea.
